Heineken-Owned Beer Brewery Launched Cannabis-Infused Sparkling Water

Lagunitas, a Californian beer brewery owned by Heineken, announced a partnership with Absolut Extracts to launch HI-FI HOPS. This is a ‘hoppy’ sparkling water, infused with THC, the active ingredient in the cannabis flower, and/or CBD, the non-psychoactive cannabis compound.

The drinks have been produced together with cannabis producer CannaCraft, which will be responsible for infusing the THC in the so-called Hi-Fi Hops. It has taken CannaCraft months to develop the perfect formulation of Hi-Fi, but eventually they could remove the cannabis flavor. The flavor that can be still be tasted is hop. Lagunitas brewer Jeremy Marshall is excited about the production of the new IPA inspired beverage and said the following about the new collaboration:

“We’ve often dreamed of hops and their cannabis cousin partying together at the family reunion. We wanted to bring this party to life in a beverage. It’s high-time that good beer inspired a provocative, yet refreshing non-alcoholic alternative. With a smidge of California sun-grown cannabis in every sip.”

The drinks contain zero calories and alcohol and will be available throughout California from this July in two editions. The white edition contains 5 milligrams of THC and 5 milligrams of CBD, while the purple edition has 10 milligrams of THC.
